Glenn W. Most


Glenn W. Most (Ph.D. Yale University) is Professor of Greek Philology at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, Visiting Professor on the Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago, and External Scientific Member at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin. He has published books on Classics, the history and methodology of Classical studies, comparative literature, cultural studies, the history of religion, literary theory, and the history of art, including Doubting Thomas (Harvard University Press, 2005), his translation of Hesiod’s Theogony, Works and Days, and Testimonia (Loeb Classical Library), and the recently co-edited volume Canonical Texts and Scholarly Practices: A Global Comparative Approach (Cambridge University Press, 2016). He was the editor in charge of ancient Greek literature for Der Neue Pauly and directed and co-edited a three-volume selection of the works of Arnaldo Momigliano in German and a new revised edition of the leading American translation of all the surviving Greek tragedies.
